The elegance and beauty of an accent of gold and bronze are undeniable, but hard to find in fusible sheet glass. With a little science and the right tools, however, you can create amazing works of art with reactive glass. Join us for a class where we review how the reaction between the two chosen glass types occur with special silver foil, see some examples of the outcomes, then make a medium sized piece plus two smaller treasures. They will be fired in a special program in the kiln, slumped, and awaiting your gifting or displaying.
This is a good class for anyone who has taken an intro course, as students should be familiar with glass cutting and use of tools. We don’t require a science degree, but hope you’ll be interested in how all this works – and once you complete the workshop, you will be “certified” to take this new technique and incorporate it into Open Studio pieces.
All glass, tools, firings, and instruction are included for this class. We also have several “paper punch” shapes, and other tools used to create the silver foil designs, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them!
