Description

Stained glass window making goes back to the 7th century, and by the 1100’s it was a pretty sophisticated operation throughout Europe. Now you can learn to make your own beautiful stained glass creations to last through the ages!

In this class, you will use the “copper foil” method to create an original stained glass project. We will have a choice of projects, dependent on your skill level. You will learn to lay out your stained glass project, cut and grind the glass, foil it, and solder it all together. At the end of the class, you will take home your project and amaze all your friends and family!

Each month, we will be adding a new pattern, and we have projects for all skill levels. So you can feed your monthly stained glass addiction with a small window/panel, a 3-D piece such as a box or candle holder, or a large sun catcher for window hanging. We are limiting these classes to six students for maximum attention and help from the instructor, and plenty of table space.

The class fee includes all supplies and tool use, including a huge selection of glass. To start each class, we will review available projects for the month, and students will decide on their project. Then we will choose glass, cut and grind pieces, solder and finish each project. The class is 3 ½ hours long, and students will be standing for large periods of time, to cut, grind, and solder. We encourage students to dress appropriately, and make sure they have comfortable closed-toed footwear. (No flip flops or other open toed shoes – we don’t want a sheet of glass to hurt anyone.) We provide protective eyewear, gloves, and aprons as necessary.

An excellent introduction to stained glass. Designing and building a small “window” will give you a taste of the processes involved in this hobby. Hopefully future classes with more involved projects will be added soon!

Thanks so much Jim! Our new stained glass classes offer a choice of different projects so returning students can challenge their skills and make something different every time. And we’re constantly adding new projects for varying skill levels. Thanks again!

My 2 daughters and I took this stained glass class and had a blast. The best fun was choosing the glass color. Gosh, I could have stood there for hours just checking out all the beautiful glass to choose from. We started out making the windows as gifts. Mine was a gift… my daughters kept theirs for themselves. Beautiful all of them! We are looking forward to some open studio time for a larger project. Thank you for giving us such a creative way to spend time together.
